Does It Offend You, Yeah?

You Have No Idea What You Are Getting Yourself Into

An excellent balance of raging punk rock, convulsive dance music, and synth beats, the UK’s Does It Offend You, Yeah? has produced an energetic debut that will get you moving. Though the quartet does not tread on uncharted territory — No Idea proves to be a melting pot including remnants of ‘80s dance laced with punk rock and pulsating beats (if equations suit you, imagine Bloc Party + MSTRKRFT) — it also seems undecided which musical route it wishes to take. Half of No Idea leans more towards hypno-dance, lyric-less loops of sound as with opener “Battle Royale” while other tracks transcend this trend and DIOYY creates more popesque songs like “Dawn of The Dead.” Nonetheless, the debut does include a few sonic gems that will test your two left feet and your British accent as you dance feverishly and sing along with lead vocalist Morgan Quaintance.

Standout tracks: “Dawn of The Dead,” “Being Bad Feels Pretty Good” APRIL S. ENGRAM
