Ride’s “Nowhere” Gets Deluxe Reish

Rhino handmade celebrates UK Band's first album with a two-disc 20th anniversary edition that includes the U.S. version of the album and the Today Forever ep, plus unreleased live show from Ride's first American tour.

Oxfordshire's Ride, in October 1990, released their first full album Nowhere, coming on the heels of three EPs and a growing reputation as a live attraction. Now, on Dec. 21 Rhino Handmade will issue a two-disc set that includes the newly remastered U.S. version of Nowhere, the '91  EP Today Forever (Unfamiliar," "Sennen," "Beneath," "Today" and an unreleased live show. Adorned with a lenticular version of the album cover, the set's 5" x 5" hardback book-style package includes a 40-page booklet with rare photos and an essay by author Jim DeRogatis. 

The second disc in particular will be of interest to fans; it was recorded April 10, 1991, at the Roxy in Los Angeles during the group's first American tour. The previously unreleased 12-song set draws mostly from Nowhere, but does touch on Ride's self-titled EP from 1990 ("Chelsea Girl" and "Drive Blind") and the band's follow-up EP later that year Play ("Perfect Time" and "Like A Daydream"). The live tracks are all newly mixed with supervision by Alan Moulder.

The remastered version of Nowhere will also be released on 180-gram vinyl. This vinyl version mirrors the original 8 song U.K. release and marks the first time the album has ever been released on vinyl in the States.
