Reports coming in from the UK media that Jack Brockman, who'd been touring as Echo & the Bunnymen's keyboardist since 1989 (and had been recording with them for several years prior to then) was killed Tuesday in a motorcycle accident on the Isle of Man. He was 53.
According to the NME.com, the bike he was on collided with a converted ambulance. Seriously injured, he was taken to a hospital where he died in intensive care.
On the Bunnymen.com website Brockman's photo was posted along with the words, "Our thoughts are with his wife, family & friends. Love, Ian, Will, Les, Peasy, Pete, Peter & all his fans." A new Bunnymen album, Fountains, will be released next month.
The site's websmaster, Peter Allen, was quoted in the Isle Of Man Today (iomtoday.co.im) as saying, "Jake was one of the most gentle, funny and genuine men you could ask to ever meet. "He played on most of the band's biggest hits and toured with the band from the early '80s. He will be hugely missed not just by the band, but by thousands of fans who met him over the years."
Brockman also performed with Damon Reece in Bom.
