Kooks For Fall Tour

Gettin' kinda kooky....

By Blurt Staff

They’ve barely completed their May/June US tour yet Britain’s Kooks are clearly bent on American domination with the announcement of a fall tour. If you want to get in on the internet presale you’ll have to head over to Ticketbastard, er, Ticketmaster today – your password will be kooksfalltour. (Amazon customers who were past Kooks buyers will get a special email letting them know that they have their own presale code for tickets.) Tickets are available to the general public this Friday, June 27.

Last December, BLURT’s own Zachary Bloom had this to say about the band in concert:

“Unlike many of their tuneful countrymen, The Kooks aren’t interested in echoing early-‘80s post-punk; much like Supergrass stood out amid the boozy swirl of Britpop, these boys draw from British Invasion’s embrace of tweeness, against a scene where that’s become anathema to so much of what’s topping the Top of the Pops…. The Kooks may leave even a passionate listener with the sense that what they do best is slightly ape really wonderful songs you already know to create a batch of wonderful songs you should know. (Some might argue that as long as the melodies are fresh, it doesn’t really matter—and this would get a lot of young bands off the hook.) But it seems that now they’ve got their footing, these boys are ready to launch off in their own direction. The lone and unnamed new song debuted during the evening didn’t bring to mind other acts the way some did; with its catchy vocal hooks and chiming guitar, it simply sounded like The Kooks.”

So there ya have it!
