Flaming Lips Announce LP, EP, Tour

Say, what's with all those upper case letters?

"It is with great pleasure," begins the press release slipped over the BLURT transom, "that THE FLAMING LIPS announces their brand new double-album entitled, EMBRYONIC, to be released later this year. This marks their first full studio set in three years following their Grammy Award-winning AT WAR WITH THE MYSTICS.  EMBRYONIC, THE LIPS' 12th album, was recorded in Fredonia, NY and Oklahoma City, OK, with studio whiz and general co-conspirator Dave Fridmann and just may be their most sonically adventurous and compositionally vernal form of musical expression ever."

US tour dates have just been confirmed and the Lips plan to reward fans purchasing tickets by giving them a sneak peek at the new album.  With every concert ticket bought online, fans will receive a digital EP allowing them to hear new Lips music before anyone else. The EP will be comprised of three brand new recordings from EMBRYONIC: "Convinced Of The Hex," "The Impulse," and "Silver Trembling Hands," followed by three additional rare B-side tracks selected by the band themselves. That same ticket buyer will also receive an official live digital download bootleg of the show they attend. Leading online distribution company Basecamp Productions is facilitating the production and delivery of the live music.

How it works:   Each fan who buys a ticket will receive a special code that allows them to get their music from the band's official website (www.flaminglips.com).

(They're also set to play the big Pitchfork festival in Chicago on July 19.)
