Dylan Poem Not A Dylan Poem At All

And Cate Blanchett is not Dylan at all, either. Who knew!

With the rock community all abuzz of late regarding a handwritten poem from the mid ‘50s by one Bobby Zimmerman - as reported in the media, the "Little Buddy" poem written for The Herzl Herald (the newspaper of a Wisconsin camp where the future Bob Dylan was attending) surfaced and is currently being auctioned by Christie's until June 23 - everyone had a bit of a comedown yesterday when it was discovered that "Little Buddy" actually hailed from the pen of country legend Hank Snow.

Rolling Stone certainly noticed the error, and put in a call to Christies, who after a pregnant hesitation, issued a  statement:

"Additional information has come to our attention about the handwritten poem submitted by Bob Dylan to his camp newspaper, written when he was 16, entitled ‘Hank Snow'. The words are in fact a revised version of lyrics of a Hank song."

This puts the estimated auction take of $10,000 - $15,000 in question now, although Christie's, attempting to put a positive spin on things so as not to queer the deal too much, added in the statement, "This still remains among the earliest known handwritten lyrics of Bob Dylan."

Meanwhile, there's absolutely no truth to the rumor that David Crosby's liver is being flogged on eBay at the moment....
