Danger Horse? Sparklemouse? However you want to describe the Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse collaboration Dark Was the Night, based on the aural evidence we're listening to RIGHT NOW, the album, due this summer is pretty ace.

You can make your own decision by going HERE to the ChrysalisMusicBlog. Once there, just click on the Dark Night of the Soul folder icon in the "Box".

As we are advised: Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) + Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse) + Flaming Lips + Gruff Rhys + Iggy Pop + Suzanne Vega + Black Francis + Vic Chesnutt + Julian Casablancas + Jason Lytle + Nina Persson + James Mercer x DAVID LYNCH = Dark Night of the Soul.

Stay tuned for details on an official release date. Earlier this year, Linkous told Pitchfork he had high hopes for the project, and that he and Danger Mouse had created the backing tracks for all the guest singers, singling out the Lips track "Revenge" as being "fucking awesome." Listen closely to the tracks and see if you can figure out who's singing what; we are especially digging the Black Francis track.

They've also set up a YouTube channel to post videos, one so far: http://www.youtube.com/user/dnotsoul
