Bonnaroo: Day Two (6-13-08)
06/14/2008

Trawling for sights ‘n’ sounds with WNCW-FM and BLURT.
By Fred Mills
BLURT’s buddy Joe Kendrick is the morning drive deejay for WNCW-FM (www.wncw.org). He’s at Bonnaroo snapping pics and conducting interviews for the station and offered to share some of his photos with us — you can view his pics from yesterday HERE . And starting Monday you’ll be able to hear some of the interview material on his morning music talk segment, “What It Is,” so tune in around 8:15 each morning all next week.

Three shots of BLURT/WNCW heroes the Drive-By Truckers. Note Patterson Hood’s vintage Stiff tee!

Jose Gonzales does the sit-down thing, while Les Claypool gets, uh, kinda nosey.

If you spot your friends in the photos, contact BLURT for a free subscription to our digital magazine… Why is that guy sleeping?!?

Two pics of State Radio….

And two of the Fiery Furnaces…

Sights from the site… Bonnaroo never seems to lack for structural oddities.

Stephen Marley on the big stage, on the jumbotron, and up close and personal. (“I shook Stephen’s hand right before this shot,” sez Joe.)

Joe and the Bonnaroo broadcast/media tent, a/k/a “Radio Bonnaroo.” Kids, leave this work to the professionals.

My Morning Jacket onstage. “My Morning Jacket KILLED,” says Joe. “They wasted no time in ripping through some standards like ‘Wordless Chorus’ before getting into some cover territory like ‘Hot Fun In The Summertime’ as a gentle rain slowly built into a steady rain at the Which stage. ‘Highly Suspicious’ converted anyone and everyone who had any smidge of a doubt as to why this band is so loved. Funk and rock in a midperiod Peter Gabriel kind of way with that track.”

Fade to black with MMJ…
