Healthy breakfast ideas for the summer

Making breakfast is a chore you could do without on particularly hot summer days. Turning on the oven is something you’re probably not looking forward when the temperature reaches 86F. If you’ve run out of ideas when it comes to preparing a healthy and nutritious breakfast for yourself, your friends, or your family members, we’re here to give you a hand.

Below you’ll find several ideas you might have to consider. They’re packed with essential nutrients, and they can offer you a good deal of energy that you are likely to burn until lunch. Check them out if you have some time available.

Yogurt parfaits

Unsweetened yogurt and fruit aren’t particularly appealing when consumed separately. But when they are eaten together, they can be delicious. Many physicians recommend this type of breakfast for adults and children, too, who as we all might know, may be wary of eating their fresh fruits.

The best thing about this breakfast is that you can get the little ones involved, too. There shouldn’t be too much trouble assembling the parfait as one has to layer yogurt, a little low-sugar cereal, as well as fruit bits. It might not be a good idea to use frozen fruit for this purpose, though.

Smoothies all the way

If you can’t be bothered with chopping any ingredients at all, you could always turn to smoothies. The green ones are particularly healthy and can help you beat the heat. Besides, this idea doesn’t call for a lot of time spent in the kitchen. You can use any type of vegetables and fruit you might have in your fridge, and adding bananas will make the smoothie even more delicious and appealing.

Get creative with eggs

Eggs are packed with vitamins, minerals, and a lot of other nutrients you need for your body to function properly. The myth according to which they have a lot of bad cholesterol is not true, at least it isn’t if you don’t overdo it and eat too many eggs. Apparently, a medium-sized one can provide about a third of your daily cholesterol intake.

If you’re tired of using the same cooking methods, you can turn to making omelets with an omelet maker. Usually, these appliances come with non-stick cooking surfaces, so cleaning them won’t really be a hassle. Other ideas are breakfast muffins, huevos rancheros, and many more.

If you don’t want to use the stove, and when it’s really hot, you probably don’t, you can always come back to some overnight oats. You can either use milk, be it dairy or not and add any type of extra that you think you might enjoy. Just leave the oats in the milk at night in the fridge along with nuts, fruit, or other tasty ingredients. In the morning, all you have to do is mix everything up and enjoy!
